Thorsten Behrens, uno de los l\u00edderes del equipo de desarrollo del subsistema gr\u00e1fico de LibreOffice, ha publicado una versi\u00f3n de demostraci\u00f3n del paquete de oficina LibreOffice, compilada en c\u00f3digo intermedio WebAssembly y capaz de ejecutarse en un navegador web (se cargan alrededor de 300 MB de datos en el sistema del usuario). Para la conversi\u00f3n a WebAssembly se utiliza el compilador Emscripten, y para la salida se emplea el backend VCL (Visual Class Library) basado en un marco modificado de Qt5. Las correcciones espec\u00edficas para el soporte de WebAssembly se desarrollan principalmente en el repositorio de LibreOffice. <\/p>\n

A diferencia de la edici\u00f3n de LibreOffice Online, la compilaci\u00f3n basada en WebAssembly permite ejecutar el paquete de oficina completo en el navegador, es decir, todo el c\u00f3digo se ejecuta del lado del cliente, mientras que LibreOffice Online realiza y procesa todas las acciones del usuario en servidor<\/a>, y solo transmite la interfaz al navegador del cliente. Trasladar la mayor parte de LibreOffice al lado del navegador permitir\u00e1 crear una versi\u00f3n en la nube para trabajo colaborativo, aliviando la carga de servidores<\/a>, minimizando las diferencias con el escritorio de LibreOffice, facilitando la escalabilidad, capaz de funcionar en modo offline, as\u00ed como permitiendo la organizaci\u00f3n de interacciones P2P entre los usuarios y el cifrado de datos de extremo a extremo en el lado del usuario.
