La empresa GitHub anunci\u00f3 su decisi\u00f3n de obligar a todos los usuarios del servicio GitHub.com que participan en el desarrollo de c\u00f3digo a utilizar la autenticaci\u00f3n de dos factores (2FA) antes de finales de 2023. Seg\u00fan GitHub, el acceso no autorizado a los repositorios a trav\u00e9s del secuestro de cuentas es una de las amenazas m\u00e1s peligrosas, ya que, en caso de un ataque exitoso, podr\u00edan introducirse cambios ocultos en productos y bibliotecas populares utilizadas como dependencias. <\/p>\n

Este nuevo requisito permitir\u00e1 fortalecer la protecci\u00f3n del proceso de desarrollo y asegurar los repositorios contra la introducci\u00f3n de cambios maliciosos debido a la filtraci\u00f3n de credenciales, el uso de la misma contrase\u00f1a en un sitio comprometido, el hackeo del sistema local del desarrollador o aplicaciones de t\u00e9cnicas de ingenier\u00eda social. Seg\u00fan las estad\u00edsticas de GitHub, actualmente solo el 16.5% de los usuarios activos del servicio utiliza la autenticaci\u00f3n de dos factores. Para finales de 2023, GitHub tiene la intenci\u00f3n de prohibir la posibilidad de enviar cambios sin aplicar la autenticaci\u00f3n de dos factores.
