Se ha lanzado la distribuci\u00f3n de AlmaLinux 9.0, sincronizada con la distribuci\u00f3n de Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 y que contiene todos los cambios propuestos en esta rama. El proyecto AlmaLinux se ha convertido en la primera distribuci\u00f3n de acceso p\u00fablico, basada en la base de paquetes de RHEL, en lanzar versiones estables basadas en RHEL 9. Las im\u00e1genes de instalaci\u00f3n est\u00e1n preparadas para arquitecturas x86_64, ARM64, ppc64le y s390x en forma de imagen de arranque (800 MB), imagen m\u00ednima (1.5 GB) y imagen completa (8 GB). Posteriormente se formar\u00e1n versiones Live con GNOME, KDE y Xfce, as\u00ed como im\u00e1genes para las plataformas Raspberry Pi, contenedores y nubes. <\/p>\n

La distribuci\u00f3n es completamente compatible a nivel binario con Red Hat Enterprise Linux y puede utilizarse como alternativa a RHEL 9 y CentOS 9 Stream. Los cambios se limitan a un cambio de marca, la eliminaci\u00f3n de paquetes espec\u00edficos de RHEL, como redhat-*, insights-client y subscription-manager-migration*. La distribuci\u00f3n AlmaLinux fue fundada por la empresa CloudLinux en respuesta a la finalizaci\u00f3n prematura del soporte de CentOS 8 por parte de Red Hat (las actualizaciones para CentOS 8 se detuvieron a fines de 2021, no en 2029 como pensaban los usuarios). El proyecto es supervisado por una organizaci\u00f3n sin fines de lucro llamada AlmaLinux OS Foundation, que se cre\u00f3 para desarrollar en una plataforma neutral con la participaci\u00f3n de la comunidad y utilizando un modelo de gesti\u00f3n similar al de la organizaci\u00f3n del proyecto Fedora. La distribuci\u00f3n es gratuita para todas las categor\u00edas de usuarios. Todos los avances de AlmaLinux se publican bajo licencias libres. <\/p>\n

Adem\u00e1s de AlmaLinux, Rocky Linux (desarrollada por la comunidad bajo la direcci\u00f3n del fundador de CentOS con el apoyo de la empresa creada Ctrl IQ), VzLinux (preparada por la empresa Virtuozzo), Oracle Linux, SUSE Liberty Linux y EuroLinux tambi\u00e9n se posicionan como alternativas al cl\u00e1sico CentOS.
