Los desarrolladores de la plataforma Packj, que analiza la seguridad de las bibliotecas, han publicado un conjunto de herramientas de l\u00ednea de comandos de c\u00f3digo abierto que permite identificar estructuras arriesgadas en paquetes que pueden estar relacionadas con la implementaci\u00f3n de actividades maliciosas o la presencia de vulnerabilidades que se utilizan para llevar a cabo ataques en proyectos que utilizan los paquetes en cuesti\u00f3n («cadena de suministro»). Se admite la verificaci\u00f3n de paquetes en los lenguajes Python y JavaScript, alojados en los directorios PyPi y NPM (este mes tambi\u00e9n se planea agregar soporte para Ruby y RubyGems). El c\u00f3digo de la herramienta est\u00e1 escrito en Python y se distribuye bajo la licencia AGPLv3. <\/p>\n

Durante el an\u00e1lisis de 330 mil paquetes con la herramienta propuesta en el repositorio PyPi, se identificaron 42 paquetes maliciosos con backdoors y 2.4 mil paquetes riesgosos. En el proceso de examen, se realiza un an\u00e1lisis est\u00e1tico del c\u00f3digo para identificar caracter\u00edsticas de la API y se eval\u00faa la existencia de vulnerabilidades conocidas, registradas en la base de datos OSV. Se utiliza el paquete MalOSS para el an\u00e1lisis de la API. El c\u00f3digo de los paquetes se analiza en busca de patrones t\u00edpicos que suelen emplearse en software malicioso. Los patrones se han preparado a partir del estudio de 651 paquetes con actividad maliciosa confirmada. <\/p>\n

Tambi\u00e9n se identifican atributos y metadatos que incrementan el riesgo de uso no intencionado, como la ejecuci\u00f3n de bloques a trav\u00e9s de «eval» o «exec», la generaci\u00f3n de nuevo c\u00f3digo durante la ejecuci\u00f3n, el uso de t\u00e9cnicas de ofuscaci\u00f3n y ocultaci\u00f3n de c\u00f3digo (obfuscated), la manipulaci\u00f3n de variables de entorno, el acceso no autorizado a archivos, la conexi\u00f3n a recursos de red en scripts de instalaci\u00f3n (setup.py), el uso de type-squatting (asignaci\u00f3n de nombres que se parecen a los de bibliotecas populares), la identificaci\u00f3n de proyectos obsoletos y abandonados, la indicaci\u00f3n de correos electr\u00f3nicos y sitios inexistentes, y la ausencia de un repositorio p\u00fablico de c\u00f3digo. <\/p>\n

Adem\u00e1s, se puede mencionar la identificaci\u00f3n por parte de otros investigadores de seguridad de cinco paquetes maliciosos en el repositorio PyPi, que enviaban al exterior servidor<\/a> el contenido de las variables de entorno con la intenci\u00f3n de robar tokens de AWS y sistemas de integraci\u00f3n continua: loglib-modules (presentados como m\u00f3dulos de la leg\u00edtima biblioteca loglib), pyg-modules, pygrata y pygrata-utils (presentados como complementos de la leg\u00edtima biblioteca pyg) y hkg-sol-utils. <\/ul>\n
