Las compilaciones est\u00e1n preparadas para las arquitecturas x86_64, ARM64, s390x y ppc64le en forma de una imagen de arranque (900 MB), una imagen m\u00ednima (1.9 GB) y una imagen completa (12 GB). M\u00e1s adelante se planea generar compilaciones Live con GNOME, KDE, Xfce y MATE, as\u00ed como im\u00e1genes para plataformas Raspberry Pi, WSL, contenedores y plataformas en la nube.    <\/p>\n<p>El distribuidor es completamente binariamente compatible con Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.8 y puede ser utilizado como un reemplazo transparente de CentOS 8. Los cambios se concentran en el rebranding, la eliminaci\u00f3n de paquetes espec\u00edficos de RHEL, como redhat-*, insights-client y subscription-manager-migration*.           <\/p>\n<p>La distribuci\u00f3n AlmaLinux fue fundada por la empresa CloudLinux en respuesta a la finalizaci\u00f3n prematura del soporte de CentOS 8 por parte de Red Hat (las actualizaciones para CentOS 8 se detuvieron a fines de 2021, no en 2029 como pensaban los usuarios). El proyecto es supervisado por una organizaci\u00f3n sin fines de lucro llamada AlmaLinux OS Foundation, que se cre\u00f3 para desarrollar en una plataforma neutral con la participaci\u00f3n de la comunidad y utilizando un modelo de gesti\u00f3n similar al de la organizaci\u00f3n del proyecto Fedora. La distribuci\u00f3n es gratuita para todas las categor\u00edas de usuarios.
