Se ha publicado el proyecto RubyWM, que desarrolla un gestor de ventanas basado en el protocolo X11, escrito en Ruby, incluyendo un controlador para trabajar con el protocolo X11. RubyWM admite escritorios virtuales y puede usar tanto una disposici\u00f3n mosaico (tailing) de ventanas como una posici\u00f3n arbitraria de las ventanas en el escritorio. El c\u00f3digo de RubyWM se distribuye bajo la licencia MIT. El proyecto tambi\u00e9n desarrolla la biblioteca pure-X11 con la implementaci\u00f3n del protocolo X11 en Ruby. <\/p>\n

El gestor de ventanas se clasifica como experimental, pero ya se utiliza en la rutina diaria del autor del proyecto. Entre las funcionalidades a\u00fan no implementadas se destacan la decoraci\u00f3n de ventanas (actualmente se utiliza un marco muy sencillo), configuraciones de m\u00faltiples monitores, y el movimiento y redimensionamiento con el rat\u00f3n capturando el borde de la ventana (para acoplarse a la ventana, se sugiere mantener la tecla Window mientras se presiona el bot\u00f3n izquierdo o derecho del rat\u00f3n). Para controlar el gestor de ventanas se utilizan eventos X11 ClientMessage, que pueden generarse con la utilidad xdotool. Para manejar combinaciones de teclas se aplica sxhkd.
