El proyecto PumpkinOS intenta crear una reimplementaci\u00f3n del sistema operativo PalmOS, utilizado en los comunicadores de la compa\u00f1\u00eda Palm. PumpkinOS permite ejecutar aplicaciones dise\u00f1adas para PalmOS directamente, sin necesidad de utilizar un emulador de PalmOS ni requerir la existencia de un firmware original de PalmOS. Las aplicaciones compiladas para la arquitectura m68K pueden ejecutarse en sistemas con procesadores x86 y ARM. El c\u00f3digo del proyecto est\u00e1 escrito en C y se distribuye bajo la licencia GPLv3. <\/p>\n

El entorno para ejecutar aplicaciones es compatible con Linux y Windows, pero tambi\u00e9n puede ser compilado como un sistema operativo aut\u00f3nomo (el entorno del sistema se basa en el n\u00facleo de Linux y en el paquete BusyBox). Se proporciona una interfaz gr\u00e1fica para navegar por las aplicaciones disponibles y alternar entre ellas.
