Te\u00f3ricamente, PortableGL puede ser utilizado en cualquier aplicaci\u00f3n que acepte texturas o framebuffer como datos de entrada. El c\u00f3digo se presenta en forma de un \u00fanico archivo de encabezado y se distribuye bajo la licencia MIT.      <\/p>\n<p>El proyecto ha establecido objetivos como la portabilidad, la conformidad con la API de OpenGL, la facilidad de uso, c\u00f3digo simple y alto rendimiento. Se mencionan \u00e1reas de aplicaci\u00f3n como la ense\u00f1anza de conceptos de construcci\u00f3n de APIs gr\u00e1ficas, el uso para trabajar con gr\u00e1ficos 3D en sistemas sin GPU e integraci\u00f3n del soporte de OpenGL en sistemas operativos espec\u00edficos para los cuales no se ha portado el paquete Mesa3D.
