El 13 de septiembre, sin fanfarrias ni redobles de tambor, se lanz\u00f3 la quinta versi\u00f3n beta del sistema operativo Haiku. Sin embargo, su compatibilidad con BeOS R5 ahora se mantiene solo en el marco de las compilaciones de 32 bits.<\/p>\n

En su estado actual, los requisitos de hardware son tradicionalmente modestos:
M\u00ednimo (32 bits): Intel Pentium II, AMD Athlon; 384MB de memoria; pantalla 800\u00d7600; 3GB en disco.
Recomendado (64-bit): Intel Core i3, AMD Phenom II; 2GB de RAM; pantalla 1366x768; 16GB en disco.<\/p>\n

Entre las novedades: un nuevo sistema de cambio de apariencia (se definen 3 colores base, los otros tres docenas se calculan autom\u00e1ticamente, hay variantes de tema claro y oscuro, que se eligen seg\u00fan el color de las barras); el funcionamiento del administrador de archivos con archivos y carpetas de solo lectura se ha vuelto intuitivo; se ha a\u00f1adido soporte para dispositivos de audio USB, aunque de forma limitada; mejoras en la parte de red (por ejemplo, el controlador TUN\/TAP, que permite crear VPN); un mont\u00f3n de nuevos puertos de software \u2014 y muchas otras cosas, tanto menores como importantes.<\/p>\n
