Theo de Raadt ha a\u00f1adido un cambio que proh\u00edbe el uso del car\u00e1cter de c\u00f3digo nulo en scripts de shell, procesados por el int\u00e9rprete de comandos por defecto, ksh. La presencia de caracteres nulos en los scripts ahora provocar\u00e1 que se detenga la ejecuci\u00f3n con un mensaje de error, a excepci\u00f3n de los casos en que se encuentren entre los datos adjuntos al final del archivo despu\u00e9s del c\u00f3digo. El cambio se ha incluido en la rama OpenBSD-Current, sobre la cual se basar\u00e1 el lanzamiento de OpenBSD 7.6. <\/p>\n

Se se\u00f1ala que este cambio eliminar\u00e1 la incertidumbre del comportamiento relacionada con el tratamiento del car\u00e1cter nulo en el c\u00f3digo escrito en C que utiliza cadenas en las que el byte nulo se emplea para indicar el final de la cadena. El estudio del tratamiento del car\u00e1cter nulo en diferentes shells ha mostrado que en cada uno de ellos se han identificado uno o m\u00e1s casos en los que el byte nulo en los datos de entrada o en el contenido de las variables provocaba un comportamiento diferente al de otras shells; por ejemplo, algunas shells lo ignoraban, otras lo reemplazaban por un espacio y algunas deten\u00edan el an\u00e1lisis del script o finalizaban su ejecuci\u00f3n.
