El proyecto desarrolla una compilaci\u00f3n lista del proyecto Coreboot, que proporciona una sustituci\u00f3n a los firmwares propietarios UEFI y BIOS, responsables de la inicializaci\u00f3n del CPU, la memoria, los dispositivos perif\u00e9ricos y otros componentes de hardware, minimizando las inserciones binarias.    <\/p>\n<p>Libreboot busca crear un entorno de sistema que permita prescindir de software propietario tanto como sea posible, no solo en el nivel del sistema operativo, sino tambi\u00e9n en el firmware que proporciona el arranque. Libreboot complementa Coreboot con herramientas que facilitan su uso a los usuarios finales, creando una distribuci\u00f3n lista para que cualquier usuario sin habilidades especiales pueda utilizarla.    <\/p>\n<p>En la nueva versi\u00f3n se ha trabajado en la reducci\u00f3n de la base de c\u00f3digo y en la simplificaci\u00f3n del sistema de compilaci\u00f3n: el tama\u00f1o de los scripts shell involucrados en la compilaci\u00f3n se ha reducido de 1482 a 1159 l\u00edneas de c\u00f3digo sin p\u00e9rdida de funcionalidad. Se ha a\u00f1adido soporte para la consola de videojuegos Sony PlayStation 1 en el firmware, para la cual se ha utilizado c\u00f3digo Open BIOS del proyecto PCSX Redux en lugar de CoreBoot. Se ha a\u00f1adido soporte para cinco modelos de port\u00e1tiles Dell Latitude (E6220, E6320, E6330, E6230, E4300) y tres modelos de PC Dell OptiPlex (3050 Micro, 7010 SFF, 9010 SFF). Se ha realizado la sincronizaci\u00f3n con las bases de c\u00f3digo: Coreboot a fecha del 29 de julio, SeaBIOS \u2014 24 de junio, Flashprog \u2014 2 de agosto, GRUB \u2014 17 de junio.
