En la biblioteca Libarchive, que proporciona funciones para trabajar con varios formatos de archivos comprimidos y archivados, se han detectado vulnerabilidades que pueden dar lugar a desbordamientos de b\u00fafer al procesar archivos RAR especialmente dise\u00f1ados. Las vulnerabilidades est\u00e1n presentes en las funciones execute_filter_audio (CVE-2024-48957) y execute_filter_delta (CVE-2024-48958) y son causadas por la falta de verificaci\u00f3n de que el bloque «src» puede solaparse con el bloque «dst» en los archivos da\u00f1ados. <\/p>\n

Las vulnerabilidades han sido corregidas en la versi\u00f3n Libarchive 3.7.5, que tambi\u00e9n soluciona m\u00e1s de una docena de errores que conducen a desbordamientos de b\u00fafer, accesos a memoria ya liberada o desbordamientos de enteros al procesar archivos en formatos cpio, lzop, rpm, zip, uu y rar. Las correcciones est\u00e1n marcadas como problemas de seguridad, pero sin asignaci\u00f3n de identificadores CVE. A\u00fan no est\u00e1 claro si se pueden explotar estos problemas para ejecutar c\u00f3digo al procesar archivos espec\u00edficamente dise\u00f1ados. <\/p>\n

Libarchive se utiliza como dependencia en muchos paquetes populares, como smbclient, flatpak, appstream, libappimage, dpdk, cmake, rpm, nix, pacman, elfutils, unrar, claws-mail, ark, epiphany, evince, vagrant, vlc, mpv, gvfs, fwupd, systemd (opcional) y file-roller (administrador de archivos comprimidos en GNOME).
