Los desarrolladores de la base de datos NoSQL ScyllaDB han decidido dejar de publicar el c\u00f3digo bajo AGPL y, a partir de la nueva versi\u00f3n en 2025, cambiar\u00e1n a una licencia de c\u00f3digo abierto no libre (BSL).<\/p>\n

Cabe recordar que ScyllaDB es un clon de la base de datos Cassandra, reescrito en C++ (el original est\u00e1 en Java) y tiene un rendimiento mucho m\u00e1s alto. Actualmente, ScyllaDB tiene dos opciones de licencia: una versi\u00f3n completamente libre bajo AGPL y una cerrada bajo licencia propietaria, que ofrece capacidades avanzadas para usuarios corporativos. A partir de la versi\u00f3n 2025.1, que se espera en febrero del pr\u00f3ximo a\u00f1o, todo el desarrollo se centrar\u00e1 en ScyllaDB Enterprise, que estar\u00e1 disponible para uso gratuito por parte de la comunidad.<\/p>\n

Las razones citadas para esta decisi\u00f3n incluyen el deseo de no competir con su propio producto y la intenci\u00f3n de enfocarse en la entrega de un producto de calidad.<\/p>\n
