Los usuarios de sistemas que utilizan el mecanismo zRAM para el almacenamiento comprimido de la partici\u00f3n de intercambio en memoria se han encontrado con un problema que provoca fallos en el arranque tras actualizar el n\u00facleo de Linux a la versi\u00f3n 6.12. El problema se manifiesta en Gentoo, Void y otras distribuciones que soportan zRAM y ofrecen paquetes con nuevas versiones del n\u00facleo. <\/p>\n

La causa del fallo fue un cambio incluido en el n\u00facleo 6.12 que agrega la opci\u00f3n de configurar los algoritmos de compresi\u00f3n en tiempo de ejecuci\u00f3n. A su vez, en Kconfig se alter\u00f3 la l\u00f3gica de selecci\u00f3n de los algoritmos de compresi\u00f3n disponibles durante la construcci\u00f3n del n\u00facleo. Este cambio ha causado problemas en distribuciones que depend\u00edan de la configuraci\u00f3n predeterminada y no habilitaron individualmente todos los algoritmos zRAM disponibles en la configuraci\u00f3n de Kconfig para el n\u00facleo 6.12. <\/p>\n

Despu\u00e9s de actualizar al n\u00facleo 6.12, en distribuciones similares solo qued\u00f3 disponible el algoritmo de compresi\u00f3n b\u00e1sico establecido por defecto, y no todos los algoritmos admitidos. Por lo tanto, al intentar habilitar algoritmos en zRAM que no coincid\u00edan con el algoritmo por defecto, ocurr\u00eda un fallo durante el arranque. Por ejemplo, al seleccionar el algoritmo lz4, se produc\u00eda el error \u00abzramctl: \/dev\/zram0: failed to set algorithm: Invalid argument\u00bb, ya que solo se manten\u00eda el soporte para lzo, en lugar de los previamente admitidos lzo, lz4, lz4hc, 842 y zstd. <\/p>\n
