Andrzej Janik present\u00f3 una actualizaci\u00f3n del proyecto ZLUDA, que desarrolla una implementaci\u00f3n abierta de la tecnolog\u00eda CUDA. El objetivo del proyecto es permitir la ejecuci\u00f3n de aplicaciones CUDA sin modificaciones en sistemas con GPU que no sean de NVIDIA, con un rendimiento cercano al de las aplicaciones que se ejecutan sin capas intermedias. El c\u00f3digo del proyecto se distribuye bajo las licencias MIT y Apache 2.0. <\/p>\n

ZLUDA 4 se presenta como la primera versi\u00f3n formada despu\u00e9s de limpiar la base de c\u00f3digo de c\u00f3digo desarrollado durante el tiempo de Andrzej en AMD. Desde 2022, Andrzej trabaj\u00f3 en AMD para crear una capa de compatibilidad para las GPU de AMD con CUDA, pero en 2024 se cerr\u00f3 el proyecto. De acuerdo con los t\u00e9rminos del contrato y tras obtener permiso para publicar de un representante de AMD, Andrzej ha abierto el c\u00f3digo de los desarrollos creados durante su trabajo en AMD, que permiten ejecutar aplicaciones CUDA sobre el stack ROCm y el runtime HIP (Heterogeneous-computing Interface for Portability). En octubre, Andrzej se vio obligado a retirar el c\u00f3digo del acceso p\u00fablico despu\u00e9s de recibir una carta de abogados, quienes dejaron claro que el permiso recibido por correo electr\u00f3nico no tiene validez legal. <\/p>\n

La nueva edici\u00f3n de ZLUDA se ha formado sobre la base de c\u00f3digo que exist\u00eda antes de que Andrzej comenzara a trabajar en AMD, no est\u00e1 vinculada a GPUs espec\u00edficas y se centra en la ejecuci\u00f3n de aplicaciones que utilizan CUDA para acelerar tareas relacionadas con el aprendizaje autom\u00e1tico y la inteligencia artificial. El proyecto actualmente se limita a funcionar en GPUs de AMD, pero en el futuro se adaptar\u00e1 a GPUs de Intel. El lanzamiento de ZLUDA 4 est\u00e1 escrito en el lenguaje Rust y est\u00e1 orientado a ejecutar el conjunto de pruebas Geekbench 5. <\/p>\n

La nueva versi\u00f3n incluye un nuevo parser para PTX, un lenguaje intermedio utilizado en las GPUs de NVIDIA. La versi\u00f3n tambi\u00e9n se destaca por alejarse de la emulaci\u00f3n de instrucciones espec\u00edficas de GPUs de NVIDIA para incrementar y decrementar mediante m\u00f3dulo, en lugar de las cuales ahora se llaman instrucciones similares de GPUs de AMD.
