Un a\u00f1o despu\u00e9s del primer intento de portar Firefox a GTK4, realizado por Martin Stransky, mantenedor de los paquetes de Firefox en Fedora y RHEL, ha aparecido un entusiasta que ha continuado con el desarrollo de la iniciativa. El proyecto ha sido asumido por Jens Persson, coautor de la aplicaci\u00f3n Panucci para reproducir podcasts y audiolibros. El trabajo en el puerto a\u00fan no est\u00e1 completo, pero en el repositorio del proyecto ha habido una actividad intensa durante los \u00faltimos dos meses para crear una capa de widgets, implementada sobre la base de GTK4. En su estado actual, el trabajo se centra \u00fanicamente en el uso de Wayland, y X11 a\u00fan no es compatible. <\/p>\n

El proyecto es totalmente compatible con el puerto oficial de Firefox basado en GTK3 y se desarrolla mediante la creaci\u00f3n de una capa alternativa con widgets, que se desarrollan paralelamente a la capa para GTK3 y no cambian los componentes relacionados. En la etapa actual, el desarrollo del puerto GTK4 de Firefox se compila y ejecuta con \u00e9xito, solucionando los problemas de redimensionamiento de la ventana. En los planes est\u00e1 resolver problemas relacionados con el manejo de entradas, as\u00ed como agregar soporte para el portapapeles, modo de arrastrar y soltar, di\u00e1logos para elegir archivos, colores, emoji y aplicaciones manejadoras.
