Como declar\u00f3 el CEO de Microsoft, Satya Nadella, actualmente se est\u00e1 trabajando en la adaptaci\u00f3n de la parte de userspace del popular sistema operativo Windows a un nuevo n\u00facleo h\u00edbrido propio, basado en el c\u00f3digo fuente del n\u00facleo del sistema operativo FreeBSD. De esta manera, Windows 12 es el \u00faltimo sistema operativo de Microsoft que contar\u00e1 con el n\u00facleo NT, que ya est\u00e1 moralmente obsoleto; los siguientes lanzamientos contar\u00e1n con un nuevo n\u00facleo, cuyo nombre en c\u00f3digo es «Tomato».<\/p>\n

Una de las principales razones para esta decisi\u00f3n son los crecientes problemas con el soporte del n\u00facleo NT, que no se ajusta a las realidades actuales, as\u00ed como el aumento de la popularidad de n\u00facleos similares a NIX en los segmentos de dispositivos m\u00f3viles e IoT.<\/p>\n

Se espera que, adem\u00e1s de las llamadas al sistema tradicionales de los sistemas BSD, el nuevo n\u00facleo tambi\u00e9n tenga una interfaz alternativa basada en COM\/WinRPC para interactuar con el c\u00f3digo de usuario.
