La Fundaci\u00f3n de Software Libre celebr\u00f3 su 40 aniversario. En 1985, un a\u00f1o despu\u00e9s de la fundaci\u00f3n del proyecto GNU, Richard Stallman estableci\u00f3 la organizaci\u00f3n Free Software Foundation. La organizaci\u00f3n fue creada con el objetivo de protegerse de empresas de dudosa reputaci\u00f3n, que hab\u00edan sido sorprendidas apropi\u00e1ndose de c\u00f3digo y tratando de vender algunas de las primeras herramientas del proyecto GNU, desarrolladas por Stallman y sus compa\u00f1eros. Tres a\u00f1os despu\u00e9s de la fundaci\u00f3n de la organizaci\u00f3n, Stallman prepar\u00f3 la primera versi\u00f3n de la licencia GPL, que defini\u00f3 los marcos legales del modelo de distribuci\u00f3n de software libre. <\/p>\n

El 17 de septiembre de 2019, Stallman dej\u00f3 su cargo de presidente de la FSF y en 2020 fue elegido Jeffrey Knauth, quien fue reemplazado hace unos d\u00edas por Jan Kelling. A\u00fan no se ofrecen detalles sobre la iniciativa, solo se menciona que permitir\u00e1 a los usuarios de dispositivos m\u00f3viles entender conceptos b\u00e1sicos de libertad de software, como el derecho a ejecutar, copiar, distribuir, estudiar, modificar y mejorar el software.
