Julian Andres Klode, el principal responsable del proyecto APT, anunci\u00f3 la decisi\u00f3n de a\u00f1adir c\u00f3digo en el lenguaje Rust al gestor de paquetes APT, as\u00ed como incluir como dependencias obligatorias el compilador Rust, la biblioteca est\u00e1ndar de Rust y las herramientas PGP del proyecto Sequoia, escritas en Rust. Los cambios se implementar\u00e1n no antes de mayo de 2026, para dar a los desarrolladores de puertos de Debian medio a\u00f1o para implementar el correcto funcionamiento de las herramientas de Rust o descontinuar el puerto. <\/p>\n

Se planea implementar en Rust los componentes de APT que requieren mayor atenci\u00f3n en t\u00e9rminos de seguridad, como los analizadores de formatos deb, ar y tar, as\u00ed como el c\u00f3digo para verificar firmas digitales. Anteriormente, en la versi\u00f3n APT 3.0 ya se hab\u00eda a\u00f1adido la posibilidad de usar la utilidad sqv, escrita en Rust, para verificar firmas digitales en lugar de invocar gpgv. <\/p>\n
