En el c\u00f3digo base de Firefox, sobre el cual se formar\u00e1 la versi\u00f3n Firefox 147 el 13 de enero, se han realizado cambios que cambian el directorio por defecto para el almacenamiento de perfiles, complementos, configuraciones y bases de datos internas en sistemas tipo UNIX a \u00ab~\/config\/mozilla\u00bb (la cach\u00e9 ya se hab\u00eda trasladado anteriormente a \u00ab~\/cache\/mozilla\u00bb). Este cambio se ha realizado para que el navegador cumpla con la especificaci\u00f3n Freedesktop.org XDG Base Directory (la solicitud de cambio se ha considerado desde 2004). La posibilidad de ubicar datos en el antiguo directorio \u00ab~\/mozilla\u00bb se ha mantenido como una opci\u00f3n que se activa al iniciar con la variable de entorno \u00abMOZ_LEGACY_HOME=1\u00bb.
