Se ha propuesto un complemento experimental para el gestor de composici\u00f3n KWin que convierte KDE en un entorno de escritorio para sistemas de realidad virtual. El complemento permite crear una interfaz no en un monitor f\u00edsico, sino en forma de pantallas virtuales en un espacio 3D, cuyo manejo se realiza a trav\u00e9s de gafas de realidad aumentada o cascos 3D. <\/p>\n

Se admite el trabajo con ventanas flotantes, fusi\u00f3n de pantallas f\u00edsicas y virtuales, posicionamiento arbitrario de pantallas en el espacio 3D, control mediante teclado sin necesidad de usar rat\u00f3n o controladores VR, y un modo de seguimiento de posici\u00f3n del usuario. Se utiliza el m\u00f3dulo Qt Quick 3D Xr para el renderizado, ligado al runtime OpenXR. Se ha probado la plataforma Monado en combinaci\u00f3n con las gafas de realidad aumentada Rokid Max y HP G2, as\u00ed como servidor<\/a> WiVRn con el casco 3D Quest 3.

Para organizar la entrada, se ha implementado el dispositivo KwinVrInputDevice, que permite mover el puntero de manera similar al rat\u00f3n, pero sin estar limitado a los bordes del \u00e1rea de salida. Para posicionar ventanas en el espacio 3D se utilizan las capacidades est\u00e1ndar de KWin, ligeramente modificadas para ventanas emergentes y ampliadas con la opci\u00f3n de mover ventanas m\u00e1s all\u00e1 del \u00e1rea de salida. Se requiere aplicar parches a Qt y XWayland. La mayor\u00eda de los parches ya han sido aceptados en la base de c\u00f3digo de Qt y se incluir\u00e1n en las versiones 6.10.2 y 6.11, quedando solo 4 parches sin transferir.
