Desarrolladores de ocho distribuciones de Linux que se especializan en proporcionar entornos para ejecutar juegos de computadora, formaron<\/a> grupo de trabajo Open Gaming Collective<\/a> (OGC) para el desarrollo conjunto de un conjunto unificado de componentes y para promover los cambios preparados en el n\u00facleo de los proyectos que forman la pila de juegos abierta. Se espera que la colaboraci\u00f3n en las tareas duplicadas en diferentes distribuciones permita liberar tiempo y enfocar la atenci\u00f3n en el desarrollo de funcionalidades espec\u00edficas de cada distribuci\u00f3n. Al crear parches para paquetes existentes, los participantes intentar\u00e1n, en la medida de lo posible, lograr la aceptaci\u00f3n de los cambios preparados en los proyectos principales (upstream), en lugar de mantener conjuntos separados de parches vinculados a los paquetes entregados en las distribuciones.<\/p>\n

Actualmente, en OGC, se han lanzado dos proyectos: un paquete con n\u00facleo Linux OGC Kernel<\/a>, enfocado en la optimizaci\u00f3n del rendimiento y la eficiencia en la ejecuci\u00f3n de aplicaciones de juegos, y un fork del servidor compuesto desarrollado por Valve, Gamescope<\/a>, que incluye soporte para hardware adicional. En OGC tambi\u00e9n se planea desarrollar conjuntamente el proceso en segundo plano InputPlumber<\/a> para el manejo de eventos desde diferentes dispositivos de entrada y parches para varios paquetes de la compa\u00f1\u00eda Valve, utilizados en SteamOS.<\/p>\n

La distribuci\u00f3n Bazzite<\/a>, basada en tecnolog\u00edas Fedora Silverblue<\/a> y optimizada para ejecutar juegos, ha decidido adoptar el uso del n\u00facleo OGC Kernel, reemplazar el HHD (HandHeld Daemon) por InputPlumber, integrar en la interfaz de Steam soporte para el control de la iluminaci\u00f3n RGB y ventiladores, y comenzar pruebas utilizando Faugus Launcher<\/a> como un posible reemplazo de la plataforma Lutris<\/a>.<\/p>\n
