Greg se encarga del soporte de las ramas estable y 'staging' del n\u00facleo de Linux, ocupa el cargo de mantenedor principal en 16 subsistemas del n\u00facleo, entre los cuales se encuentran USB, TTY y Driver core, adem\u00e1s de ser el creador de openSUSE Tumbleweed, udev y la iniciativa de desarrollo de controladores para Linux (Linux driver project). En los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os, Greg ha estado viviendo en los Pa\u00edses Bajos.              <\/p>\n<p>Adem\u00e1s del premio principal, se establecieron 4 premios especiales (Special Recognitions), concedidos a 5 participantes:   <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> \u00abNegocios e impacto\u00bb (Business and Impact) \u2014 Frank Karlitschek, creador de la plataforma en la nube NextCloud.\n<li class=\"l\"> \u00abImpacto en la comunidad\u00bb (Community Impact) \u2014 Roberto Di Cosmo, cient\u00edfico italiano en el campo de la inform\u00e1tica y creador del archivo de c\u00f3digo fuente Software Heritage.\n<li class=\"l\"> \u00abImpacto en la comunidad\u00bb (Community Impact) \u2014 Stefano Zacchiroli, investigador y profesor franc\u00e9s, cofundador y director cient\u00edfico del archivo Software Heritage, que ocup\u00f3 tres veces el puesto de l\u00edder del proyecto Debian y fue parte del consejo de direcci\u00f3n de la Open Source Initiative (OSI).\n<li class=\"l\"> \u00abHabilidades y educaci\u00f3n\u00bb (Skills and Education) \u2014 Matthew Venn, fundador del proyecto TinyTapeout, que ayuda en la fabricaci\u00f3n de chips abiertos.\n<li class=\"l\"> Defensa de intereses y acceso a la informaci\u00f3n (Advocacy and Awareness) \u2014 Jenny Molloy, l\u00edder de un grupo en el Centro Internacional de Ingenier\u00eda Gen\u00e9tica y Biotecnolog\u00eda (ICGEB), fundadora del proyecto de intercambio abierto de biomateriales Red de Colaboraci\u00f3n de Reactivos, coautora del acuerdo Open Material Transfer Agreement, una de las fundadoras de la organizaci\u00f3n Open Science Hardware Foundation y promotora de la ciencia abierta.      <\/ul>\n<p>La Academia Europea de Software Abierto se cre\u00f3 con el apoyo de la Comisi\u00f3n Europea para promover y reconocer a personas y organizaciones destacadas en el desarrollo de software y hardware abiertos en Europa. Su objetivo es fomentar las ventajas de los proyectos abiertos, establecer colaboraciones y abogar por el valor social y econ\u00f3mico de las tecnolog\u00edas abiertas de software y hardware. La organizaci\u00f3n se encuentra en proceso de convertirse en una fundaci\u00f3n independiente sin fines de lucro, registrada en B\u00e9lgica.     <\/p>\n<p>El premio fue otorgado por Daniel Stenberg, presidente de la Academia Europea de Software Abierto, autor de la herramienta curl y participante en los grupos de trabajo de IETF que desarrollan los protocolos HTTP y QUIC. la plataforma de comunicaci\u00f3n Element, que promueve el protocolo Matrix,\n<li>Javier Serrano, creador del Open Hardware Repository y coautor de la CERN Open Hardware Licence,\n<li>Robert Kaye,
