El proyecto MOS desarrolla una distribuci\u00f3n ligera y modular de Linux basada en Devuan Linux, enfocada en la gesti\u00f3n de servidores dom\u00e9sticos. Originalmente, el proyecto fue desarrollado 'para uno mismo', pero posteriormente se expandi\u00f3 m\u00e1s all\u00e1 del sistema de uso personal y se public\u00f3 de forma abierta. La versi\u00f3n actual 0.1.9-beta solo soporta arranque en modo UEFI. Se han preparado im\u00e1genes para su instalaci\u00f3n en unidades USB (354 MB) y para su ejecuci\u00f3n en sistemas de virtualizaci\u00f3n (348 MB). <\/p>\n

MOS se posiciona como un sistema operativo de servidor de prop\u00f3sito general con interfaz web. La arquitectura est\u00e1 construida sobre el principio de API-first: la interfaz web act\u00faa solo como cliente del REST API del backend, todas las operaciones son realizadas por servicios en el servidor. Se utilizan WebSockets para la entrega de notificaciones en tiempo real. Los desarrollos se distribuyen bajo la licencia AGPLv3. El proyecto no recopila datos de telemetr\u00eda ni env\u00eda informaci\u00f3n al exterior. Los requisitos m\u00ednimos para operar en VM son: 2 n\u00facleos de CPU y 6 GB de RAM. <\/p>\n

De forma predeterminada, MOS incluye soporte para mergerfs para combinar varios discos en un \u00fanico pool y SnapRAID para la protecci\u00f3n de datos mediante sumas de verificaci\u00f3n paritarias, basadas en el uso de instant\u00e1neas (una combinaci\u00f3n popular para servidores multimedia dom\u00e9sticos que no requiere un RAID cl\u00e1sico). Controladores adicionales de almacenamiento, as\u00ed como controladores de hardware (GPU, DVB), se conectan a trav\u00e9s de un sistema de plugins. El cat\u00e1logo de plugins y plantillas est\u00e1 disponible a trav\u00e9s del componente MOS Hub. <\/p>\n

La contenedorizaci\u00f3n se implementa a trav\u00e9s de Docker y LXC, mientras que la virtualizaci\u00f3n se realiza a trav\u00e9s de QEMU (la interfaz para VM est\u00e1 en desarrollo, y la API ya es pr\u00e1cticamente funcional). Los servicios se activan y desactivan de forma separada, lo que permite mantener la minimalidad de la instalaci\u00f3n base. Se ha desarrollado un servicio separado en Go (MOS Notify) para notificaciones. La autenticaci\u00f3n es mediante tokens; se recomienda TLS y reverse proxy para su uso fuera de redes aisladas.
