Joomla ofrece funcionalidades como herramientas para la gesti\u00f3n de usuarios y archivos multimedia, soporte para la creaci\u00f3n de variantes de p\u00e1ginas en varios idiomas, sistema de gesti\u00f3n de campa\u00f1as publicitarias, libreta de direcciones de usuarios, encuestas, b\u00fasqueda integrada, sistema de categorizaci\u00f3n de enlaces y seguimiento de clics, editor WYSIWYG, sistema de plantillas, gesti\u00f3n de flujos de noticias, API XML-RPC para integraci\u00f3n con otros sistemas, almacenamiento en cach\u00e9 de p\u00e1ginas y una colecci\u00f3n de complementos. El c\u00f3digo del proyecto est\u00e1 escrito en PHP y se distribuye bajo la licencia GPLv2.      <\/p>\n<p>Cambios clave en la nueva versi\u00f3n:  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> Se ha implementado un nuevo plugin de protecci\u00f3n contra bots (Proof-of-Work CAPTCHA), que no depende de API externas y realiza la verificaci\u00f3n mediante la ejecuci\u00f3n de c\u00e1lculos matem\u00e1ticos en segundo plano (fuerza bruta de hashes), sin que el usuario lo note.
