Se llev\u00f3 a cabo el primer lanzamiento p\u00fablico de la biblioteca multimedia LDL (Little DirectMedia Layer), que permite crear aplicaciones gr\u00e1ficas que pueden funcionar tanto en sistemas modernos como en sistemas m\u00e1s antiguos (Windows 95+, distribuciones con n\u00facleo Linux 2.0+, FreeBSD 3.0+). Se proporciona una API multiplataforma sencilla para gestionar ventanas y procesar eventos de dispositivos de entrada. Para el renderizado se puede utilizar OpenGL 1.0-4.6. El c\u00f3digo se presenta bajo la licencia LGPL 3.0. <\/p>\n

Este lanzamiento es notable por la transici\u00f3n del uso del lenguaje C++98 al lenguaje ANSI C (C89) para garantizar la m\u00e1xima portabilidad y compatibilidad con compiladores y plataformas antiguos, incluidas DOS, Windows 95 y PlayStation 1.
