El proyecto Arch Linux ha suspendido el registro de nuevas cuentas en el repositorio AUR (Arch User Repository) debido a la continua actividad de inserci\u00f3n de c\u00f3digo malicioso en los paquetes y vandalismo con insultos en ruso. Despu\u00e9s del primer ataque masivo, los desarrolladores de Arch Linux intentaron protegerse del problema a trav\u00e9s de filtros selectivos, pero los atacantes los eludieron sustituyendo npm por bun y ofuscando la llamada de su c\u00f3digo en la funci\u00f3n post_install. La posibilidad de registro se reestablecer\u00e1 tras la implementaci\u00f3n de una protecci\u00f3n m\u00e1s efectiva.<\/p>\n

Para capturar paquetes, los atacantes utilizaron la funcionalidad proporcionada en AUR que permite aceptar el mantenimiento de paquetes que quedaron sin mantenedores y tienen el estado 'orphaned'. Esta funcionalidad se ofrec\u00eda sin restricciones y controles a cualquiera que lo deseara. Actualmente, hay 107406 paquetes en AUR, de los cuales 13050 tienen el estado 'orphaned' (hace una semana eran 15261). En la \u00faltima semana, se han actualizado 5578 paquetes en el repositorio, mientras que en la semana anterior se actualizaron 3446. Hay 141967 usuarios registrados en el repositorio y 69 mantenedores de paquetes (la semana pasada hab\u00eda 140949 usuarios y 69 mantenedores).
