El proyecto es desarrollado por Red Hat y se utiliza en distribuciones como RHEL, Fedora, SUSE, openSUSE, ALT Linux, Rosa Linux, OpenMandriva, Mageia, PCLinuxOS y Tizen. El c\u00f3digo del proyecto se distribuye bajo las licencias GPLv2 y LGPLv2.     <\/p>\n<p>Al preparar RPM 6.1, se ha realizado un cambio en el esquema de numeraci\u00f3n de versiones. El primer n\u00famero de la versi\u00f3n cambia al modificar el formato de los paquetes RPM, y el segundo \u2014 al agregar nuevas funcionalidades y correcciones que no rompen la compatibilidad hacia atr\u00e1s. El tercer n\u00famero indica \u00fanicamente la existencia de correcciones de errores o vulnerabilidades. En lugar de formar versiones alfa y beta para pruebas, ahora se publican candidatos a versiones.        <\/p>\n<p>Principales cambios en RPM 6.1:  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> Para dividir el acceso al almac\u00e9n de claves, en lugar de usar un bloqueo de transacciones global, se ha implementado un bloqueo separado, lo que ha resuelto el problema de detener el procesamiento de todas las solicitudes a rpmdb durante la ejecuci\u00f3n de transacciones.\n<li class=\"l\"> Se ha vuelto a utilizar por defecto el sistema NSS (Name Service Switch) para buscar usuarios y grupos.\n<li class=\"l\"> En sistemas con n\u00facleo 5.11+ y biblioteca glibc 2.34+ se ha mejorado la eficiencia del cierre de descriptores de archivos, lo que en ciertas situaciones ha reducido el tiempo de instalaci\u00f3n en un 26%.\n<li class=\"l\"> Se ha a\u00f1adido un nuevo sintaxis de modificadores para macros (nombre_macro) que cambian el comportamiento de las macros. Se han implementado dos modificadores: 'l' (literal, desactiva el procesamiento del s\u00edmbolo '%' dentro del cuerpo de la macro) y 'o' (one-shot, ejecuta la macro solo en la primera llamada, utilizando posteriormente el valor en cach\u00e9).\n<li class=\"l\"> En la expresi\u00f3n &#171;fine&#187; se han a\u00f1adido las opciones: &#171;-e&#187; para expandir el cuerpo del macro solo durante la definici\u00f3n y &#171;-g&#187; para situar el macro en el contexto global. La combinaci\u00f3n de estas opciones es equivalente a la expresi\u00f3n &#171;%global&#187;.\n<li class=\"l\"> Se ha mejorado el manejo de errores relacionados con la construcci\u00f3n y verificaci\u00f3n.\n<li class=\"l\"> Se ha mejorado el rendimiento del plugin rpm-plugin-syslog con systemd-journal.\n<li class=\"l\"> En la utilidad rpmsign se ha implementado la posibilidad de
