El proyecto WinCore desarrolla una capa de compatibilidad con Win32\/WGL, que permite compilar c\u00f3digo de programas de Windows escritos en C\/C++ utilizando la API cl\u00e1sica de Win32, para su ejecuci\u00f3n en Linux y macOS. WinCore intercepta los manejadores cl\u00e1sicos de Win32 y utiliza backend multiplataforma para renderizar a trav\u00e9s de SDL3 o SDL2. El c\u00f3digo est\u00e1 escrito en C++ y se distribuye bajo la licencia LGPLv3. <\/p>\n

El proyecto es el resultado de la reimaginaci\u00f3n de la biblioteca LDL, del mismo autor, que lleg\u00f3 a la conclusi\u00f3n de que en lugar de dise\u00f1ar otra API, era m\u00e1s l\u00f3gico tomar la interfaz de procedimientos Win32, probada a lo largo del tiempo, y hacerla portable a diferentes sistemas operativos y dispositivos. La idea es que el c\u00f3digo se escribe bajo las reglas de Win32, pero se compila y ejecuta de manera nativa en Windows, Linux y macOS. <\/p>\n

El autor no tiene como objetivo emular todas las capacidades de Windows y se centra solo en subsistemas de multimedia y motores. Actualmente se han implementado 5 funciones de Kernel32.dll (gesti\u00f3n de m\u00f3dulos, tiempo del sistema y retrasos), 25 funciones de User32.dll (creaci\u00f3n de ventanas, ciclos de mensajes, posici\u00f3n del cursor y manejo de entradas), 5 funciones de Gdi32.dll (selecci\u00f3n de formato de p\u00edxeles, salida de bitmaps y cambio de buffers) y 4 funciones de Opengl32.dll (creaci\u00f3n, eliminaci\u00f3n y activaci\u00f3n de contextos WGL).
