Los especialistas de Mozilla han presentado el proyecto WASI (Interfaz del Sistema WebAssembly), que implica el desarrollo de una API para la creaci\u00f3n de aplicaciones convencionales que se ejecutan fuera del navegador. En este sentido, se trata inicialmente de la interoperabilidad y de un alto nivel de seguridad para tales aplicaciones.<\/p>\n

Como se menciona, se ejecutan en un \"sandbox\" especial y tienen acceso a archivos, al sistema de archivos, a sockets de red, temporizadores y m\u00e1s. Sin embargo, el programa solo puede realizar acciones que est\u00e1n expl\u00edcitamente permitidas.<\/p>\n

Dado que el pseudoc\u00f3digo de WebAssembly es una variante independiente de la plataforma del lenguaje Assembler, el uso de JIT permitir\u00e1 lograr un alto rendimiento de c\u00f3digo, al nivel de las aplicaciones nativas. Actualmente se ha presentado la implementaci\u00f3n de las API POSIX b\u00e1sicas (archivos, sockets, etc.), pero a\u00fan no hay soporte para bloqueos y entrada\/salida as\u00edncrona. En el futuro, se espera la aparici\u00f3n de m\u00f3dulos para criptograf\u00eda, gr\u00e1ficos en 3D, sensores y multimedia.<\/p>\n

Tambi\u00e9n cabe destacar que el proyecto Fastly ha presentado el compilador Lucet para aplicaciones WebAssembly. Permite ejecutar de manera segura programas externos en WebAssembly dentro de otras aplicaciones, por ejemplo, es adecuado para complementos. El propio compilador est\u00e1 escrito en el lenguaje Rust y soporta c\u00f3digo en C, Rust y TypeScript.<\/p>\n

Por supuesto, todav\u00eda quedan muchas preguntas sobre la seguridad de este enfoque.
