Drew DeVault<\/a>, desarrollador activo del protocolo Wayland, creador del proyecto Sway<\/a> y de la biblioteca asociada wlroots<\/a> anunci\u00f3 en su microblog<\/a> un nuevo compositor de Wayland \u2014 Wio<\/a>, implementaci\u00f3n del sistema de ventanas Rio<\/a>, que se utiliza en el sistema operativo Plan 9<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Externamente, el compositor repite el dise\u00f1o y comportamiento del original Rio, creando, moviendo y eliminando ventanas de terminales con el rat\u00f3n, ejecutando dentro de ellas programas gr\u00e1ficos (el puerto de Rio a X11 del proyecto Plan 9 from User Space<\/a> no replicaba la funcionalidad original, sino que simplemente creaba una nueva ventana con el programa al lado).<\/p>\n

Internamente se utiliza el compositor wlroots Cage<\/a> para crear 'kioscos', cuyo c\u00f3digo permite ejecutar m\u00faltiples pantallas de Wayland en el contexto de una \u00fanica sesi\u00f3n de usuario. Seg\u00fan DeVault, esta es una de las funcionalidades interesantes que muestra la diferencia radical en el dise\u00f1o de Wayland en comparaci\u00f3n con X11, donde esto es simplemente imposible o dif\u00edcil de lograr.<\/p>\n
