En Chrome 76 se cerr\u00f3 una brecha<\/a><\/noindex> en la implementaci\u00f3n del FileSystem API, que permit\u00eda determinar desde una aplicaci\u00f3n web si se estaba utilizando el modo inc\u00f3gnito. A partir de Chrome 76, en lugar de bloquear el acceso al FileSystem API, que se utilizaba como un indicador de actividad en el modo inc\u00f3gnito, el navegador dej\u00f3 de restringir el FileSystem API, pero limpiaba los cambios realizados despu\u00e9s de la sesi\u00f3n. Resulta que la nueva implementaci\u00f3n tiene<\/a><\/noindex> desventajas que permiten, como antes, determinar la actividad del modo inc\u00f3gnito.<\/p>\n

La esencia del problema es que la sesi\u00f3n con el FileSystem API en el modo inc\u00f3gnito es temporal, y los datos no se guardan en el disco y se mantienen en la memoria RAM. Por lo tanto, al medir<\/a><\/noindex> el tiempo de almacenamiento de datos a trav\u00e9s del FileSystem API y las desviaciones que surgen (mientras que al almacenar en RAM se registran caracter\u00edsticas constantes, al escribir en disco los retrasos var\u00edan), se puede determinar con bastante seguridad si la p\u00e1gina se est\u00e1 visualizando en modo inc\u00f3gnito o no. La desventaja del m\u00e9todo es que el proceso de medir las desviaciones puede ser bastante prolongado, durando alrededor de un minuto (demostraci\u00f3n<\/a><\/noindex>). <\/p>\n

A\u00fan as\u00ed, en Chrome 76 permanece sin corregirse otra el problema<\/a><\/noindex>, que permite juzgar la actividad del modo inc\u00f3gnito en funci\u00f3n de la evaluaci\u00f3n de las restricciones impuestas a trav\u00e9s del API Quota Management<\/a><\/noindex>. Recordemos que en la definici\u00f3n del modo inc\u00f3gnito est\u00e1n interesados los sitios que funcionan bajo el modelo de ofrecer acceso completo mediante suscripci\u00f3n de pago (paywall). Para atraer a una nueva audiencia, tales sitios ofrecen acceso completo a usuarios nuevos durante un tiempo limitado, lo que se utiliza activamente para evadir paywalls. La forma m\u00e1s sencilla de acceder a contenido de pago en tales sistemas es utilizar el modo inc\u00f3gnito, donde el sitio considera que el usuario ha abierto la p\u00e1gina por primera vez. A los editores no les gusta este comportamiento, por lo que utilizaron activamente la brecha relacionada con el FileSystem API para exigir desactivar el modo inc\u00f3gnito para continuar viendo.<\/p>\n
