Linus Torvalds ha lanzado la sexta versi\u00f3n beta semanal del pr\u00f3ximo n\u00facleo Linux 5.3. Este lanzamiento conmemora el 28\u00ba aniversario del lanzamiento de la versi\u00f3n original del n\u00facleo del nuevo sistema operativo en aquel momento.<\/p>\n

Torvalds para el anuncio parafrase\u00f3 su primer mensaje sobre este tema. Dice as\u00ed:<\/p>\n

«Estoy desarrollando un sistema operativo (gratuito) (es m\u00e1s que solo un pasatiempo) para clones de 486 AT y muchas otras soluciones de hardware. Ha estado madurando durante los \u00faltimos 28 a\u00f1os y a\u00fan no se ha completado. Me gustar\u00eda recibir comentarios sobre cualquier error presentado en esta versi\u00f3n (o errores m\u00e1s antiguos, si los hay)», \u2014 escribi\u00f3 el desarrollador.<\/p>\n

La mayor parte del parche 5.3-rc6 consiste en actualizaciones de controladores para dispositivos de red. Aunque tambi\u00e9n hay otras correcciones. Torvalds se\u00f1al\u00f3 que no se descarta un lanzamiento RC8. En cuanto al lanzamiento estable, se espera que la versi\u00f3n Linux 5.3 est\u00e9 disponible en dos o tres semanas. <\/p>\n

Recordemos que el primer lanzamiento de la versi\u00f3n 0.0.1 que hizo Torvalds fue el 25 de agosto de 1991, despu\u00e9s de cinco meses de desarrollo. La primera versi\u00f3n p\u00fablica del n\u00facleo conten\u00eda alrededor de 10,000 l\u00edneas de c\u00f3digo fuente y ocupaba 62 KB en formato comprimido. El n\u00facleo Linux moderno cuenta con m\u00e1s de 26 millones de l\u00edneas de c\u00f3digo.<\/p>\n

Como se se\u00f1ala, el desarrollo aproximado de un proyecto as\u00ed desde cero «costar\u00eda» entre 1 y 3 mil millones de d\u00f3lares.<\/p>\n
