Drew DeVault, autor del entorno de usuario Sway<\/a><\/noindex> y cliente de correo Aerc<\/a><\/noindex>, por diversi\u00f3n intent\u00f3 preparar una implementaci\u00f3n de Git, escrita en POSIX Shell. La idea surgi\u00f3 tras una discusi\u00f3n sobre la complejidad de la estructura interna de Git, despu\u00e9s de lo cual Drew decidi\u00f3 demostrar sus argumentos escribiendo una versi\u00f3n funcional de Git en Shell puro en un solo d\u00eda. Durante el trabajo, Drew se dio cuenta de que se hab\u00eda apresurado con sus afirmaciones sobre la simplicidad debido al uso en Git de un formato binario de \u00edndice, que no es del todo adecuado para Shell. Pero no hab\u00eda vuelta atr\u00e1s y, retorciendo las cosas, logr\u00f3 implementar Git en Shell. <\/p>\n

El proyecto fue nombrado shit<\/a><\/noindex> (Shell Git) y se posiciona exclusivamente como un experimento para estudiar las entra\u00f1as de Git, no destinado a ser utilizado en la pr\u00e1ctica. Adem\u00e1s de las construcciones definidas en POSIX Shell, el c\u00f3digo utiliza varias extensiones de GNU que funcionan en BusyBox. Tambi\u00e9n se requiere tener la biblioteca zlib. La funcionalidad preparada es suficiente para realizar un commit en un repositorio git.
