La empresa iXsystems anunci\u00f3<\/a><\/noindex> sobre la unificaci\u00f3n de sus productos para el r\u00e1pido despliegue de almacenamiento en red (NAS, Network-Attached Storage). Distribuci\u00f3n gratuita FreeNAS<\/a><\/noindex> se fusionar\u00e1 con el proyecto comercial TrueNAS<\/a><\/noindex>, ampliando las capacidades de FreeNAS para empresas y preinstalado en los sistemas de almacenamiento producidos por iXsystems.<\/p>\n

Por razones hist\u00f3ricas, FreeNAS y TrueNAS fueron desarrollados, probados y lanzados por separado, a pesar de la gran cantidad de c\u00f3digo compartido. La unificaci\u00f3n de los proyectos requiri\u00f3 un gran trabajo para unificar los sistemas de construcci\u00f3n de la distribuci\u00f3n y los paquetes. En la versi\u00f3n 11.3<\/a><\/noindex> el c\u00f3digo de TrueNAS alcanz\u00f3 la paridad con FreeNAS en soporte de plugins y entornos virtuales, y la cantidad de c\u00f3digo compartido super\u00f3 el 95%, lo que permiti\u00f3 avanzar hacia el trabajo de fusi\u00f3n final de los proyectos. <\/p>\n

En la versi\u00f3n 12.0, que se espera para la segunda mitad del a\u00f1o, FreeNAS y TrueNAS se fusionar\u00e1n y se presentar\u00e1n bajo el nombre com\u00fan de \u201cTrueNAS Open Storage\u201d. A los usuarios se les ofrecer\u00e1n dos ediciones: TrueNAS CORE y TrueNAS Enterprise. La fusi\u00f3n permitir\u00e1 acelerar el desarrollo y reducir el ciclo de preparaci\u00f3n de versiones en hasta 6 meses, fortalecer el control de calidad, sincronizar el desarrollo con FreeBSD para ofrecer soporte m\u00e1s oportuno para nuevo hardware, simplificar la documentaci\u00f3n, unificar los sitios, facilitar la migraci\u00f3n entre la edici\u00f3n comercial y la gratuita de la distribuci\u00f3n, y acelerar la transici\u00f3n a
\nOpenZFS 2.0<\/a><\/noindex> basado en \u201cZFS on Linux.\u201d<\/p>\n

FreeNAS se basa en el c\u00f3digo de FreeBSD, presenta soporte integrado para ZFS y la posibilidad de gesti\u00f3n a trav\u00e9s de una interfaz web construida con el framework Python Django. Para organizar el acceso al almacenamiento, se soportan FTP, NFS, Samba, AFP, rsync e iSCSI; para aumentar la fiabilidad del almacenamiento, se puede aplicar RAID (0,1,5) por software, y para la autorizaci\u00f3n de clientes se implementa soporte para LDAP\/Active Directory. <\/p>\n
