En el marco del proyecto NsCDE<\/a><\/noindex> (Not so Common Desktop Environment) desarrolla un entorno de escritorio que ofrece una interfaz retro al estilo CDE<\/a><\/noindex> (Common Desktop Environment), adaptado para su uso en sistemas Unix-like modernos y Linux. El entorno se basa en el gestor de ventanas FVWM<\/a><\/noindex> con un tema, aplicaciones, parches y complementos para recrear el escritorio original de CDE. El c\u00f3digo del proyecto se distribuye<\/a><\/noindex> bajo la licencia GPLv3. Los complementos est\u00e1n escritos<\/a><\/noindex> en Python y Shell.<\/p>\n

El objetivo del proyecto es proporcionar un entorno c\u00f3modo y conveniente para los amantes del estilo retro, que soporte tecnolog\u00edas modernas y no cause incomodidad por la falta de funcionalidad. Para dar estilo a las aplicaciones de usuario que se ejecutan, se han preparado generadores de temas para Xt, Xaw, Motif, GTK2, GTK3, Qt4 y Qt5, permitiendo estilizar la apariencia de la mayor\u00eda de los programas que utilizan X11 bajo una interfaz retro. NsCDE permite vincular la apariencia de CDE con tecnolog\u00edas modernas, como la rasterizaci\u00f3n de fuentes utilizando XFT, Unicode, men\u00fas din\u00e1micos y funcionales, escritorios virtuales, applets, fondos de escritorio, temas e iconos, etc.<\/p>\n
