Los desarrolladores de Mozilla han anunciado su intenci\u00f3n de eliminar el soporte del protocolo FTP de su navegador Firefox. Esto significa que en el futuro, los usuarios del popular navegador de Internet no podr\u00e1n cargar archivos ni ver el contenido de recursos a trav\u00e9s del protocolo FTP.<\/p>\n

\u00abHacemos esto por razones de seguridad. FTP es un protocolo inseguro y no hay motivo para que sea m\u00e1s preferido para la carga de archivos que HTTPS. Adem\u00e1s, parte del c\u00f3digo de FTP es muy antiguo, inseguro y bastante complicado de mantener. En el pasado, hemos logrado identificar numerosas vulnerabilidades en este c\u00f3digo\u00bb, coment\u00f3 el ingeniero de software de Mozilla Corporation, Michal Novotny.<\/p>\n

Seg\u00fan la informaci\u00f3n disponible, Mozilla eliminar\u00e1 el soporte de FTP en su navegador con el lanzamiento de Firefox 77, que se espera para junio de este a\u00f1o. Es importante se\u00f1alar que los usuarios a\u00fan podr\u00e1n cargar archivos a trav\u00e9s de FTP. Para ello, deber\u00e1n habilitar el soporte del protocolo en el men\u00fa de configuraci\u00f3n del navegador, que se abre al escribir about:config en la barra de direcciones. Sin embargo, en el futuro, los desarrolladores eliminar\u00e1n completamente el soporte de FTP del navegador. Se espera que esto ocurra en la primera mitad de 2021. Despu\u00e9s de eso, los usuarios de Firefox no podr\u00e1n utilizar el protocolo FTP.<\/p>\n

Cabe destacar que anteriormente los desarrolladores del navegador Chrome tambi\u00e9n anunciaron su intenci\u00f3n de deshacerse del soporte para el protocolo FTP. Los representantes de Google informaron sobre esto en agosto del a\u00f1o pasado. El soporte de FTP se desactivar\u00e1 por defecto en Chrome 81, cuya lanzamiento se retrasa<\/a><\/noindex> debido a un brote de coronavirus, y en la siguiente versi\u00f3n de navegador dejar\u00e1 de soportar FTP por completo.<\/p>\n
