Las empresas MyCrypto y PhishFort detectaron<\/a><\/noindex> en el cat\u00e1logo de Chrome Web Store 49 extensiones maliciosas que env\u00edan claves y contrase\u00f1as de carteras de criptomonedas a servidores de los atacantes. Las extensiones se distribuyeron utilizando m\u00e9todos de publicidad de phishing y se presentaron como implementaciones de varias carteras de criptomonedas. Las extensiones se basaban en el c\u00f3digo de carteras oficiales, pero inclu\u00edan modificaciones maliciosas que enviaban claves privadas, c\u00f3digos de recuperaci\u00f3n y archivos con claves. <\/p>\n

Para algunas extensiones, se manten\u00eda artificialmente una calificaci\u00f3n positiva y se publicaban comentarios positivos mediante usuarios falsos. La empresa Google elimin\u00f3 las extensiones mencionadas del cat\u00e1logo de Chrome Web Store en un plazo de 24 horas despu\u00e9s de la notificaci\u00f3n. La publicaci\u00f3n de las primeras extensiones maliciosas comenz\u00f3 en febrero, pero el pico se dio en marzo (34.69%) y abril (63.26%).<\/p>\n

La creaci\u00f3n de todas las extensiones est\u00e1 relacionada con un mismo grupo de atacantes, que despleg\u00f3 14 servidores de control para gestionar el c\u00f3digo malicioso y recopilar datos interceptados por las extensiones. En todas las extensiones se utiliz\u00f3 un c\u00f3digo malicioso est\u00e1ndar, pero las extensiones se camuflaban como diferentes productos, incluyendo<\/a><\/noindex> Ledger (57% de las extensiones maliciosas), MyEtherWallet (22%), Trezor (8%), Electrum (4%), KeepKey (4%), Jaxx (2%), MetaMask y Exodus.
