En Firefox para Android se ha detectado<\/a><\/noindex> grave vulnerabilidad<\/a><\/noindex> en la implementaci\u00f3n del protocolo SSDP<\/a><\/noindex>, utilizado para detectar servicios de red en la red local. La vulnerabilidad permite a un atacante, que se encuentra en la misma red local o inal\u00e1mbrica, responder a las solicitudes de verificaci\u00f3n de Firefox con un mensaje UPnP XML \u00abLOCATION\u00bb con comandos intent<\/a><\/noindex>, mediante los cuales se puede abrir una URI arbitraria en el navegador o invocar controladores de otras aplicaciones. <\/p>\n

El problema se manifiesta hasta la versi\u00f3n Firefox para Android 68.11.0<\/a><\/noindex> y se ha solucionado en la versi\u00f3n Firefox para Android 79, es decir, las versiones cl\u00e1sicas anteriores de Firefox para Android son vulnerables y se requiere actualizar a una nueva edici\u00f3n<\/a><\/noindex> del navegador (Fenix), que utiliza el motor GeckoView, construido sobre tecnolog\u00edas de Firefox Quantum, y un conjunto de bibliotecas Mozilla Android Components<\/a><\/noindex>. Las versiones de Firefox para sistemas de escritorio no se ven afectadas por el problema.<\/p>\n

Para probar la vulnerabilidad preparado<\/a><\/noindex> se necesita un prototipo funcional del exploit. El ataque se lleva a cabo sin ninguna acci\u00f3n del usuario, basta con que el navegador Firefox para Android vulnerable est\u00e9 en ejecuci\u00f3n en el dispositivo m\u00f3vil y que la v\u00edctima est\u00e9 en la misma subred que el servidor SSDP del atacante. <\/p>\n

Firefox para Android env\u00eda peri\u00f3dicamente mensajes SSDP en modo difusivo (multicast UDP) para identificar dispositivos presentes en la red local, como reproductores multimedia y smart TVs. Todos los dispositivos en la red local reciben estos mensajes y tienen la capacidad de enviar una respuesta. En modo normal, el dispositivo devuelve un enlace a la ubicaci\u00f3n del archivo XML con informaci\u00f3n sobre el dispositivo que soporta UPnP. Durante un ataque, en lugar del enlace a XML, se puede enviar un URI con comandos intent para Android. <\/p>\n

Med los comandos intent, es posible redirigir al usuario a sitios de phishing o enviar un enlace a un archivo xpi (el navegador ofrecer\u00e1 la opci\u00f3n de instalar la extensi\u00f3n). Dado que las respuestas del atacante no est\u00e1n limitadas, puede intentar agobiar al navegador con propuestas de instalaci\u00f3n o con sitios maliciosos, esperando que el usuario cometa un error y haga clic en la instalaci\u00f3n de un paquete malicioso. Adem\u00e1s de abrir enlaces arbitrarios en el mismo navegador, los comandos intent pueden utilizarse para procesar contenido en otras aplicaciones de Android; por ejemplo, se puede abrir una plantilla de correo en un cliente de correo (URI mailto:) o iniciar la interfaz para hacer una llamada (URI tel:).<\/p>\n
