En el repositorio NPM se ha detectado<\/a><\/noindex> se detect\u00f3 actividad maliciosa en cuatro paquetes que inclu\u00edan un script preinstall, el cual enviaba informaci\u00f3n sobre la direcci\u00f3n IP, ubicaci\u00f3n, inicio de sesi\u00f3n, modelo de CPU y directorio personal del usuario a GitHub antes de la instalaci\u00f3n del paquete. Se encontr\u00f3 c\u00f3digo malicioso en los paquetes electorn<\/a><\/noindex> (255 descargas), lodashs<\/a><\/noindex> (78 descargas), loadyaml<\/a><\/noindex> (48 descargas) y loadyml<\/a><\/noindex> (37 descargas). <\/p>\n

Los paquetes problem\u00e1ticos estuvieron disponibles en NPM del 17 al 24 de agosto para ser distribuidos utilizando type squatting<\/a><\/noindex>, es decir, con nombres similares a los de otras bibliotecas populares, con la esperanza de que el usuario cometiera un error tipogr\u00e1fico al escribir el nombre o no notara las diferencias al elegir un m\u00f3dulo de la lista. Seg\u00fan el n\u00famero de descargas, alrededor de 400 usuarios cayeron en esta trampa, la mayor\u00eda de los cuales confundi\u00f3 electorn con electron. Actualmente, los paquetes electorn y loadyaml (env\u00edo de datos).<\/a><\/noindex> eliminados<\/a><\/noindex> han sido eliminados por la administraci\u00f3n de NPM, mientras que los paquetes lodashs y loadyml fueron retirados por el autor.<\/p>\n

Los motivos de los atacantes son desconocidos, pero se sospecha que la filtraci\u00f3n de informaci\u00f3n a trav\u00e9s de GitHub (el comentario se enviaba a trav\u00e9s de un Issue y se eliminaba dentro de las 24 horas) podr\u00eda haberse realizado como parte de un experimento para evaluar la efectividad del m\u00e9todo, o podr\u00eda haber sido un ataque planificado en varias etapas, donde en la primera se recopilaban datos sobre las v\u00edctimas, y en la segunda, que no se llev\u00f3 a cabo debido al bloqueo, los atacantes planeaban lanzar una actualizaci\u00f3n con un c\u00f3digo malicioso m\u00e1s peligroso o un backdoor incluido en la nueva versi\u00f3n.<\/p>\n
