Se ha publicado la primera versi\u00f3n del proyecto labwc, que desarrolla un servidor compuesto para Wayland con capacidades que recuerdan al gestor de ventanas Openbox (el proyecto se presenta como un intento de crear una alternativa a Openbox para Wayland). Entre las caracter\u00edsticas de labwc se destacan el minimalismo, la implementaci\u00f3n compacta, amplias posibilidades de personalizaci\u00f3n y un alto rendimiento. El c\u00f3digo del proyecto est\u00e1 escrito en C y se distribuye bajo la licencia GPLv2. <\/p>\n

Se utiliza como base la biblioteca wlroots, desarrollada por los creadores del entorno de escritorio Sway, que proporciona las funciones b\u00e1sicas para organizar el trabajo del gestor compuesto basado en Wayland. Para ejecutar aplicaciones X11 en un entorno basado en el protocolo Wayland, se admite el uso del componente DDX XWayland. <\/p>\n

Es posible conectar complementos que implementan funciones como la creaci\u00f3n de capturas de pantalla, la visualizaci\u00f3n de fondos de escritorio y la disposici\u00f3n de la barra y el men\u00fa. Por ejemplo, se ofrecen tres opciones de men\u00fa de aplicaciones: bemenu, fuzzel y wofi. Para la barra, se puede utilizar Waybar. El tema de dise\u00f1o, el men\u00fa b\u00e1sico y los atajos de teclado se configuran a trav\u00e9s de archivos de configuraci\u00f3n en formato xml. <\/p>\n

En el futuro se planea proporcionar soporte para archivos de configuraci\u00f3n de Openbox y temas de Openbox, asegurar su funcionalidad en pantallas HiDPI, implementar soporte para los protocolos layer-shell, wlr-output-management y foreign-toplevel, integrar soporte para men\u00fas, a\u00f1adir la posibilidad de colocar indicadores en pantalla (osd) y el interfaz de conmutaci\u00f3n de ventanas al estilo Alt+Tab.
