Tras GitHub y Bitbucket, los desarrolladores de la plataforma de colaboraci\u00f3n GitLab han anunciado el cese del uso por defecto de la palabra \"master\" para las ramas principales, en favor de la palabra \"main\". El t\u00e9rmino \"master\" se considera en tiempos recientes pol\u00edticamente incorrecto, evoca la esclavitud y es percibido por algunos miembros de la comunidad como una ofensa. <\/p>\n

El cambio se implementar\u00e1 tanto en el servicio GitLab.com como despu\u00e9s de la actualizaci\u00f3n de la plataforma GitLab para uso local. El nuevo nombre se aplicar\u00e1 al crear nuevos proyectos. En la versi\u00f3n GitLab 13.11, programada para el 22 de abril, se introducir\u00e1 una opci\u00f3n para reemplazar el nombre de la rama principal, pero por defecto, en nuevos proyectos, continuar\u00e1 utiliz\u00e1ndose el nombre master. En la versi\u00f3n GitLab 14.0, que se espera el 22 de mayo, se utilizar\u00e1 por defecto el nombre main para todos los proyectos creados. <\/p>\n

En caso de actualizar sistemas existentes a GitLab 14.0, en nuevos proyectos creados a trav\u00e9s de la interfaz web, tambi\u00e9n se aplicar\u00e1 por defecto el nombre main. Si se utilizan sistemas de integraci\u00f3n continua, puede ser necesario realizar cambios en scripts y configuraciones que tengan enlaces duros a master. Si lo desean, los usuarios podr\u00e1n volver a utilizar el nombre master a trav\u00e9s de la configuraci\u00f3n que gestiona el nombre de la rama por defecto.
