Until now, the DXVK layer with the implementation of DXGI (DirectX Graphics Infrastructure), Direct3D 10 and Direct3D 11 through the Vulkan API has been built as a DLL library and could be used only with Wine to run Windows games. The proposed changes allow DXVK to be compiled as a shared library for Linux, which can link to regular Linux applications to use the Direct3D 11 API. Such a possibility might be useful for simplifying the porting of Windows games to Linux.
