Igor Pavlov has announced a significant version of the archiver 7-Zip 24.05. The project code is written in C++ and is distributed under the LGPL license. Ready-made builds for Windows and Linux are available for i686, x86-64, and ARM 32/64 architectures. Unfortunately, most distributions still provide the outdated p7zip, which is over 7 years old. This is likely due to the fact that the 7z code depends on the ASMC project, which is no longer used anywhere else.

- A filter for binary files for the RISCV architecture has been added, allowing for increased compression.
- The unpacking speed of LZMA and LZMA2 has been increased by 20-60% in the ARM64 version for Windows.
