On on AROS One 2.5 project release, which develops the AROS operating system distribution, allowing users to launch a desktop environment styled like AmigaOS on their systems. An ISO image and boot environment for writing to a USB drive have been prepared for installation on x86 systems. The AROS operating system has been under development since 1995 and is distributed under the AROS Public License, based on the Mozilla Public License 1.1.
The AROS project is compatible with AmigaOS 3.1 at the API level, providing the ability to run applications created for AmigaOS (after recompiling for AROS), as well as a TCP/IP stack, audio subsystem, and tools for developing graphical applications. AROS also offers a graphical user interface in the style of AmigaOS and extends functionality to enhance AmigaOS. AROS One represents a ready-to-run distribution for modern hardware, including a customized AROS operating system and
a set of various user applications.
Uues versioonis on järgmised muudatused:
- A new C library has been proposed, synchronized with
the 64-bit AROS OS. - When running AROS on top of Linux, the ability to work using WSL (Windows Subsystem for Linux), a layer for running Linux applications on Windows, has been implemented.
- The default mouse cursor image has been replaced.
- The functionality of the boot menu has been expanded, and boot time has been reduced.
- File and directory deletion support via the Del key has been added in the Wanderer file manager and desktop.
- The SMB2-Start script has been added for organizing file sharing over the network.
- Updated versions of applications compiled for AROS, such as classic game emulators ScummVM 1.9.1 and ResidualVM 0.3.1.1, the graphics library GLFW (Graphics Library Framework) 3.4, browser AmiFox 0.6, image converter Image2PDF 2.6, theme selection interface ThemeList 1.0, image viewer LoView 2.024, system cleaning application WitchCleaner 3.20, as well as various demos and games.
