Utility cksum has a new option «-a» (—algorithm) for selecting the hashing algorithm. To speed up checksum calculations, the cksum utility uses pclmul instructions when in «—algorithm=crc» mode, achieving up to 8 times faster computations. On systems without pclmul support, the crc mode is sped up by a factor of 4. Other hashing algorithms (sum, md5sum, b2sum, sha*sum, sm3, etc.) are implemented by calling libcrypto functions.\n
In the utilities md5sum, cksum, sha*sum, and b2sum, the «—check» flag now allows a CRLF sequence at the end of the checksum line. In «cksum —check», automatic detection of the hashing algorithm used is ensured.\n
The ls utility has a new option «—sort=width» for sorting by filename length, as well as an option «—zero» to terminate each line with a null character. The previous behavior has been restored, resulting in displaying an empty directory instead of an error when processing a deleted directory.\n
