Joshua Strobl, Budgie desktop\u2019s lead developer, announced his departure from the Core Team of the Solus project and relinquished his role as the Experience Lead responsible for developer relations and user interface development. Beatrice\/Bryan Meyers, who is in charge of the technical aspect of Solus, assured that the distribution\u2019s development will continue and that an announcement regarding the project structure change and team restructuring will be made soon. <\/p>\n
In turn, Joshua Strobl explained that he intends to get involved in the development of the new distribution, SerpentOS, which the original creator of Solus has also shifted to. Thus, the old Solus team will rally around the SerpentOS project. Joshua also does not abandon plans to port the Budgie desktop environment from GTK to EFL libraries and intends to devote more time to Budgie\u2019s development. Furthermore, he plans to create a separate organization to oversee the development of the Budgie environment and involve community members interested in Budgie, such as the Ubuntu Budgie and Endeavour OS distributions. <\/p>\n
Joshua cites a conflict arising from efforts to voice and address issues hindering the progression of changes in Solus, both from direct project participants and from interested community members, as the reason for his departure.
