Teabe sihitud v\u00e4ljav\u00f5tmiseks teistelt privileegitasemetelt (nt s\u00fcsteemi m\u00e4lust) kasutatakse \u201egadget\u2019e\u201d \u2014 tuumaks olevad k\u00e4suread, mis sobivad spekulatiivseks andmete lugemiseks m\u00e4lu olenevalt v\u00e4listest tingimustest, millega r\u00fcndaja saab m\u00f5jutada.      <\/p>\n<p>Klassikaliste Spectre r\u00fcnnakute kaitsmiseks, kus kasutatakse tingimuslikke ja kaudseid h\u00fcppeid, rakendatakse enamikus operatsioonis\u00fcsteemides \u2018retpoline\u2019 tehnikat, mis p\u00f5hineb kaudsete h\u00fcpete asendamisel k\u00e4suga \u2018ret\u2019, mille jaoks protsessorites kehtib eraldi virnaoleku prognoosimise plokk, mis ei kasuta h\u00fcpete prognoosimise plokki. Retpoline rakendamise ajal 2018. aastal peeti sarnased aadressimanipulatsioonid praktikas ebaotstarbekaks spekulatiivsete h\u00fcpete korraldamiseks kasutades \u2019ret\u2019 k\u00e4sku.     <\/p>\n<p>Retbleedi r\u00fcnnaku meetodi v\u00e4ljat\u00f6\u00f6tanud teadlased demonstreerisid mikroarhitektooniliste tingimuste loomise v\u00f5imalust spekulatiivse h\u00fcppe algatamiseks k\u00e4su \u201eret\u201d abil ning avaldasid valmis t\u00f6\u00f6riistad Linuxi tuumast sobivate haavatavuste (gadget\u2019ide) tuvastamiseks, kus need tingimused ilmnevad.     <\/p>\n<p>Uuringu k\u00e4igus valmistati valmis utiliit, mis v\u00f5imaldab s\u00fcsteemidel, millel on Intel CPU, kasutamata privileege, v\u00e4ljav\u00f5tta etteantud andmeid tuuma m\u00e4lust kiirusel 219 baiti sekundis ja t\u00e4psusega 98%.
