OpenBSD projekt asutati Theo de Raadt'i poolt 1995. aastal p\u00e4rast konfliktiga NetBSD arendajatega, mille tulemuseks oli Theo juurdep\u00e4\u00e4su blokeerimine NetBSD CVS-hoidlasse. P\u00e4rast seda l\u00f5i Theo de Raadt koos m\u00f5ttekaaslastega NetBSD allikapuu p\u00f5hjal uue avatud operatsioonis\u00fcsteemi, mille peamisteks arengueesm\u00e4rkideks on \u00fchilduvus (toetatakse 13 riistvaraplatvormi), standardiseerimine, korrektne t\u00f6\u00f6, ennetav turvalisus ja integreeritud kr\u00fcptograafia. OpenBSD 7.7 p\u00f5hiteabe t\u00e4ielik installi ISO-pilt on 746 MB.       <\/p>\n<p>Lisaks operatsioonis\u00fcsteemile on projekt OpenBSD tuntud oma komponentide poolest, mis on levinud ka teistes s\u00fcsteemides ning on t\u00f5estanud end kui \u00fched turvalisimad ja kvaliteetseimad lahendused. Nende hulgas on: LibreSSL (OpenSSLi fork), OpenSSH, paketifilter PF, OpenBGPD ja OpenOSPFD marsruutimoodulid, OpenNTPD NTP-server, OpenSMTPD postiserver, tmux tekstiterminali mitmehargne, identd teenus protokolli IDENTi rakendusega, BSDL-alternatiiv GNU groff paketile &#8212; mandoc, protokoll usaldusv\u00e4\u00e4rsete s\u00fcsteemide korraldamiseks CARP (Common Address Redundancy Protocol), kergekaaluline http-server ning OpenRSYNC failide s\u00fcnkroonimise utiliit.    <\/p>\n<p>Peamised muudatused:   <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> DRM (Direct Rendering Manager) raamistiku elluviimine on s\u00fcnkroniseeritud Linuxi tuumaga 6.12.21 (eelmine versioon oli 6.6.52). inteldrm draiveris on rakendatud GPU tugi, mida kasutatakse Intel'i protsessorites, mis p\u00f5hinevad Arrow Lake mikroarhitektuuril. amdgpu draiverisse on lisatud GPU Ryzen AI 300 (Strix Point, Strix Halo, Krackan Point) ja Radeon RX 9070 (Navi 48) tugi.\n<li class=\"l\"> ARM64 arhitektuuri sadamas on rakendatud SVE (Scalable Vector Extension) vektorite instruktsioonide toetust. J\u00e4tkatakse t\u00f6\u00f6d v\u00f5rguoperatsioonide teostamise nihutamiseks v\u00f5rguadapterite poole.\n<li class=\"l\"> Sysupgrade'is on k\u00e4ivitatud re\u017eiim offline-s\u00fcsteemide uuendamiseks, kasutades kohalikke faile.\n<li class=\"l\"> fw_update utiliiti on lisatud v\u00f5imalus laadida (mitte installida) p\u00fcsivara tavakasutajana ilma root-\u00f5igusteta.
