OpenZL kood on kirjutatud C\/C++ ja avaldatud BSD litsentsi alusel.      <\/p>\n<p>Astronoomiliste t\u00e4htede SAO katalooge kokkusurudes v\u00f5imaldas OpenZL t\u00f6\u00f6riist andmete suurust v\u00e4hendada 2.06 korda, samas kui zstd algoritm surus informatsiooni 1.31 korda ja XZ 1.64 korda. Kompressioonikiiruselt \u00fcletas OpenZL zstd-d kahel korral (203 MB\/s v\u00f5rreldes 115 MB\/s) ja XZ-d 65 korda (203 MB\/s v\u00f5rreldes 3.1 MB\/s). OpenZL t\u00f6\u00f6 seisneb kohandavas pakendaja genereerimises edastatud andmete kirjelduse p\u00f5hjal. Selle tulemusena luuakse andmete tihendamiseks kood, mis on optimeeritud konkreetse andmeformaadi jaoks. \u00dchendav utiliit, mis on \u00fchilduv k\u00f5igi genereeritud pakendajatega, kasutatakse andmete lahtipakimiseks.       <\/p>\n<p>Kompresseerimine ja lahtipakkimine toimub \u00fche utiliidi \u00abzli\u00bb v\u00f5i raamatukogu libopenzl abil.
